Know the road

Check the road before you commit.

Choose the preset that matches your vehicle. PadRoute shows which roads are shown as approved, where conditions apply, what needs checking and why. We check for new NHVR data every week and update PadRoute when it changes.

  • Choose from more than 1,100 vehicle presets built from NHVR vehicle definitions.
  • See how road access changes from start to finish
  • Get a warning before conditions or restrictions ahead

Check the height

Know the clearance before you commit.

Compare known bridge clearances with your selected vehicle’s height. PadRoute flags clearances at or below it, so you can take a closer look before driving that road.

  • See published clearance heights on the map
  • Check bridge details without starting a route
  • Read source details where available and check roadside signs

Know the stop

Find truck stops and heavy vehicle rest areas.

You do not need an active route to look ahead. Check what is at a stop, whether the facilities were recently reported clean or working, and what drivers found before you turn in.

  • Rest areas, truck parking, service stations and public weighbridges
  • Recent reports about facilities, cleanliness and overnight safety
  • See whether drivers recently reported inspectors at an inspection site

Trace it to source

Read the condition. Check it yourself.

PadRoute does not stop at green, amber or red. Read the condition that applies, see where it came from and open the official source when you want to check it yourself.

  • See the wording that applies to your vehicle
  • Open the official source from PadRoute
  • Know when the data does not give a clear answer

Recent driver reports

Know what drivers found ahead.

See reports on the map and along your route, so you can check more than the road-access data before you set off.

Traffic, crashes and closures

Check reports of queues, blocked lanes and roadworks along the run.

Hazards on the road

See what drivers reported, from stopped vehicles and debris to animals on the road.

Weather and visibility

Look for recent observations of heavy rain, strong winds or water over the road.

Reports show when they were made. They are driver observations, not an official live feed, and a reported closure does not automatically change your route.

From the road

A driver’s perspective

Car navigation apps aren’t built for us. What works for a car doesn’t necessarily work when you’re behind the wheel of a rigid, semi, truck and dog, B-double, A-double or road train. PadRoute starts with the combination you’re actually driving, so you can check the route before you set off.

PadRoute shows the condition behind each access result and links you to the official source. You can check the wording yourself instead of relying on a green tick alone.

We check for new NHVR data every week and update PadRoute when it changes.

Find stops and facilities across Australia, including rest areas, service stations, truck parking and public weighbridges. Road access checks use available NHVR data for the ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria. What is available still depends on the source and location.
