PadRoute features

Set your vehicle. Check the trip. Know what is ahead.

An Australian truck navigation app built around your vehicle. Plan B-double, road train and PBS runs, review road access and bridge clearances, then follow turn-by-turn directions.

Know the road

B-double, road train and PBS route planning

Choose the B-double, road train, PBS or other heavy-vehicle preset that matches your vehicle. PadRoute shows which roads are shown as approved, where conditions apply, what needs a closer look and what is restricted—and tells you why.

  • Choose from more than 1,100 vehicle presets built from NHVR vehicle definitions.
  • See roads shown as approved, conditions and restrictions
  • Know when the data cannot give a clear answer

Before you commit

Check the whole trip before you leave

PadRoute checks the route section by section. You can see where conditions apply, where access is not shown as approved and what you need to check for yourself.

  • Check the full trip, not just the next road
  • See conditions separately from restrictions
  • Confirm you have reviewed anything important

Check the height

Spot bridge-clearance concerns before you commit

Compare known bridge clearances with your selected vehicle’s height. PadRoute flags clearances at or below it, so you can take a closer look before driving that road.

  • Compare published clearance heights with your vehicle
  • Check bridge details without an active route
  • Check source details and roadside signs before proceeding

On the move

Truck navigation with access warnings

Follow turn-by-turn directions while PadRoute is open. If the access status changes ahead, PadRoute warns you before you reach it and shows what applies.

  • Choose voice, sound and vibration alerts
  • Get warned before the access status changes

Know the stop

Find truck stops and heavy vehicle rest areas

Find truck stops, rest areas, service stations and truck parking. Check facilities such as fuel, toilets and showers where listed. Look up public weighbridges and heavy vehicle safety stations or inspection sites. See what drivers found, including whether inspectors were seen, and how recently they reported it.

  • Stop information across Australia
  • Time-stamped reports from drivers
  • Useful even when you are not following a route

Show the evidence

Read the condition. Check the official source.

PadRoute shows the condition that applies and where it came from. When you want to check it yourself, open the official source straight from the app.

  • Read the condition as published
  • See who published the data
  • Open the official source and check it yourself

Recent driver reports

Know what drivers found ahead.

See reports on the map and along your route, so you can check more than the road-access data before you set off.

Traffic, crashes and closures

Check reports of queues, blocked lanes and roadworks along the run.

Hazards on the road

See what drivers reported, from stopped vehicles and debris to animals on the road.

Weather and visibility

Look for recent observations of heavy rain, strong winds or water over the road.

Reports show when they were made. They are driver observations, not an official live feed, and a reported closure does not automatically change your route.

Through the black spots

Keep the road ahead ready offline.

While you have reception, PadRoute downloads maps and road-access data ahead of your vehicle. What is already downloaded stays available if reception drops, and the app tops it up when you reconnect.

PadRoute Free10 km ahead

Preparation for shorter reception dropouts.

PadRoute ProUp to 150 km ahead

More of the run ready for longer black spots.

This prepares the route ahead; it does not let you plan a new route or receive fresh driver reports without a connection.

Australian coverage

Stops across Australia. Road checks in five states and territories.

Find stops and facilities across Australia, including rest areas, service stations, truck parking and public weighbridges. Road access checks use available NHVR data for the ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria. What is available still depends on the source and location. We check for new NHVR data every week and update PadRoute when it changes.

Location only while PadRoute is open

PadRoute uses your location to show where you are and give directions. It does not keep tracking your location after you close the app.
